A specific challenge. A product that starts with software.
PharmacOps began as a proposal to address the identification and sorting of medicines returned to hospital pharmacy. Its starting point is LabORA Challenge 6: connecting a physical sample to a reference, a destination and a record of what happened, even when information is incomplete.
Who is behind the project.
The project is led by Idriss El Ouazzani, a Biomedical Engineering student at Universitat Rovira i Virgili and full-stack developer. PharmacOps brings together his interest in healthcare software and a specific operational challenge: organising evidence, decisions and movements while preserving the context of each return.

First, organise the workflow.
The first goal is to verify the flow of information before automating movement. The planned MVP will therefore combine a mobile camera, software and trays: a person presents each sample, places it and confirms its location. Physical automation is planned for a later phase, with its own requirements and tests.
From prototype to modular development.
Capture, catalogue, identification, review, destinations, digital twin and traceability are designed as connected modules. They should evolve while preserving the link between a sample, its decision and the recorded movement. Phase 2 will explore a capture station, guidance and physical sorting, with an explicit route for exceptions.
What we need to assess.
The next step is to work with authorised samples and professionals familiar with the process to evaluate recognition, sorting rules and location records. We do not present the prototype as a hospital deployment or clinical validation.
